Bridging the Internet Gap from 2000 to Today

In from HTI

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

1000541The Judds were right – love can build a bridge!

In this case, it’s a love of the Internet that’s built a bridge from the year 2000 to now.

Eight years ago the USC Annenberg School Center for the Digital Future conducted a survey in which 44% of Internet users said they felt good or excellent at using the Web. Fast forward to 2008 and nearly 80% of Internet users say the same.

That’s almost double the respondents whose perception has changed regarding their own Internet savvy.

An even more staggering (and encouraging) statistic, according to the report released by eMarketer – when the initial survey was conducted, a whopping 28% of respondents claimed their skill level was poor, compared to just 3% who say the same now.

What a difference nearly a decade makes.
