Last week we published a post on the bright future of inbound marketing, and we promised to bring you figures to back up the claim that this method of marketing signifies “a new era of marketing on the web,” according to Internet marketing company Hubspot.
If the predictions below, provided by eMarketer, on traditional ad spending declines are any indication – even despite the occasional wide margins between sources – outbound (or traditional) marketing may be a thing of the past faster than expected.
Of course, these figures don’t suggest that companies plan to abandon outbound marketing all together, but given this perfect storm of problems facing marketers – a financial crisis causing cutbacks on traditional ad spending, which affects the livelihood of publications and other businesses that directly depend on ad revenue to stay afloat – when the dust settles, there may not be many outlets left that offer outbound opportunities.
What’s your view on this subject? Will outbound marketing evolve, or does it face extinction? We invite your opinion in our comments section!
