After months of research and development, Visible Shops is proud to announce the launch of the new CBST.org, the online home of Congregation Beth Simchat Torah, the world’s largest LGBT synagogue.
Unlike most churches and synagogues, the CBST membership is spread far beyond local reach, as members seek both to support CBST and its mission, and view it as a spiritual home away from home. As CBST has grown – and because of its status as both a synagogue and an LGBT organization – launching a new version of CBST.org was key to the organization’s growth and continued outreach to the community it serves.
CBST’s new site took a year of planning, preparation and building – and it completely replaced the old, outdated site. The purpose of the new CBST.org is to extend the organization’s reach to members and supporters beyond its tangible walls, in hopes of providing even more gay and lesbian Jews the solace they seek through spirituality.

Visible Shops enhanced CBST.org by overhauling the old site with new 2.0 components, including streaming podcasts of recent sermons, a dynamic glossary featuring translations of commonly used Hebrew or Yiddish words and phrases, a more frequently updated feed of relevant news and updates, and specific areas of information targeting different communities within the congregation.
Visible Shops also worked with CBST to create a foundation for growth, and designed a system that would allow wider participation among the site’s users.
